Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC)
Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) is an inorganic polymer coagulant widely used in water and wastewater treatment. It is produced by the partial hydrolysis of aluminium chloride, resulting in a polymerized product with the general formula:[Al₂(OH)ₙCl₆₋ₙ]ₘ
PAC contains both positively charged aluminium ions and hydroxyl ions, giving it a strong coagulating power. When added to water, it neutralizes the negative charges on suspended particles, causing them to clump together (flocculate) and settle out.
